V. Professional activities and curriculum vitae, 1953-1997, 1953-1997

Scope and content

This series contains records of Teeter’s professional activities, including teaching and publishing. It includes biographical materials, such as his autobiography, curriculum vitae, bibliography and photographs. Teaching materials include lecture notes for linguistics courses Teeter taught at Harvard and other institutions, including courses on Wiyot and Maliseet-Passamaquoddy. A few folders include Teeter’s course notes taken as an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley. This series also documents Teeter’s participation in conferences and institutes, particularly the annual Algonquian Conference. Teeter’s role as a faculty member in the Harvard University Department of Linguistics, as well as his involvement with other Harvard committees and organizations, including the Society of Fellows, is documented here in correspondence, meetings minutes, and publications. These files also document his involvement with liberal issues on the Harvard campus, providing faculty perspective on events such as the April 1969 student unrest. Teeter’s extensive publishing is reflected in the copies of his reprints contained in this series, as well as his bibliography, and correspondence and notes regarding pending and unpublished manuscripts. The series also includes a small amount of material documenting Teeter's Fulbright fellowship activities in Japan in 1969-1970.
