Records of the Harvard Exhibit at the Paris Exposition
Overview
The Paris Exposition (also called the Exposition Universelle of 1900) was a world’s fair held in Paris, France, from April 15 through November 12, 1900. The collection consists chiefly of some of the exhibit charts used by Harvard University in the Department of Education and Social Economy at the Paris Exposition. The charts, arranged in double columns with one in English, and the other in French, illustrated the growth of Harvard University and its contribution to education in the United States. Additionally, correspondence documents the efforts of John Bertram Williams, Harvard University Publication Agent, in the planning of the exhibit, and an unsigned handwritten report describes the extent of the Harvard exhibit.

Historical note
The Paris Exposition (also called the Exposition Universelle of 1900) was a world’s fair held in Paris, France, from April 15 through November 12, 1900. Featured among the exhibits in the Department of Education and Social Economy at the Exposition, the Harvard exhibit included charts that contained descriptive statements of the various schools of the University, including the Harvard Observatory, the Peabody Museum, the Harvard Law School, the Harvard Medical School, and the Harvard Divinity School. The charts illustrated the growth of Harvard University and its contribution to education in the United States.

Processing Information
This inventory was created in May 2014 by Dominic P. Grandinetti from a cursory inspection of the material and a variety of information sources. Titles were devised by the archivist. The records (UAI 20.900.1 and UAI 20.900.2) were re-processed as the Records of the Harvard Exhibit at the Paris Exposition, 1899-1900 and assigned the call number UAI 20.900.1. Call number UAI 20.900.2 (Records relating to the Paris Exposition, 1900) was eliminated.
