Scope and Contents

This small work appears to have been a preparatory drawing for A Plot of Cambridge Common. Although the proportions are slightly different from those of the Christ Church as depicted in that larger drawing, the building's features are identical.

Scope and Contents This large drawing is believed by some scholars to be a mathematical thesis, submitted by Green in 1783 when he was a junior at Harvard College. He is known to have been assigned a mathematical part in an Exhibition held in April 1783, but it is not known if this drawing was the work he then presented. A Plan of the Colleges with the Land Adjoining containing about six acres as survey'd in June 1784 Digital

Scope and Contents

This drawing depicts Holden Chapel, Hollis Hall, Harvard Hall, and Massachusetts Hall. It also includes measurements of the distance between some of these buildings, and from Hollis Hall to Charlestown Road. This is the only drawing in this collection to which Green ascribed a date.

Scope and Contents This map of North America, carefully drawn in ink and watercolor, stretches from "part of Hudson's Bay" in the north to Punta Mala, Costa Rica, in the south. Costa Rica was colonized by Spain at the time Green drew this map. The map is drawn on a grid whose lines represent latitude and longitude; the "Tropick of Cancer" is labeled, as are the "heads" of the Mississippi River.
