Scope and Contents
One letter from William Sawyer, in Wakefield, New Hampshire, to Lemuel Shaw, dated 1844, regarding a missed opportunity for a visit when Shaw came to Sawyer's home while he was away, and a dinner he had with another Harvard classmate, John Knapp (1779-1849). Sawyer further provides updates on his life since Harvard, noting he had largely abandoned the practice of law to focus on his farm. He also references Shaw’s career as a judge and expresses interest in hearing about his surviving Harvard classmates.
