Scope of medals and related correspondence

This series documents George Williamson's military service and death in World War I. It contains three medals and decorations awarded posthumously to Williamson by the British Empire and sent to his widow in 1921. The medals include the Victory medal and the British War medal, each of which are accompanied by ribbons, as well as the 1914 Star clasp. The decorations are accompanied by the original envelopes in which they were mailed, a letter from the British War Office, and the issue voucher. There is also a circa 1914 photograph of Williamson in uniform and a newsclipping about his death.
