Biographical / Historical

Henry Webb (d. 1660), a wealthy Boston merchant, was born in Salisbury, England. He emigrated to Boston in 1638 and was active in the iron works trade. Webb died on September 7, 1660. In his will, he donated land in Boston, known as the “Webb Estate,” and £50 to Harvard.

This photostat copy was received by the Harvard Library in June 1923 from the Maryland Commissioner of the Land Office. A 1923 letter from Harvard College Librarian William C. Lane to the Register of Probate Court for Suffolk County is held in the control file for this collection in the Harvard University Archives.
