Scope and Contents
The reports in this series were written by John C. Warren to the President of Harvard College, the Corporation, and the Board of Overseers. The reports document Warren's activities as Hersey Professor of Anatomy and Surgery and Dean of the Harvard Medical School from 1816 to 1827. The information in these reports consists of statistics about Warren's classes and the Medical Department such as the number of students attending medical lectures, the number of lectures given by Warren, the amount of time Warren spent preparing for lectures, the amount of time Warren spent traveling between Cambridge and Boston to perform his teaching and administrative duties, and the academic progress made by Warren's students. Additionally, the reports note Warren's suggestions to increase the ventilation in the anatomy room, provide increase security for medical preparations, the progress made by medical students in their classes, the enlargement of the collection of anatomical preparations in Cambridge and Boston, and the expansion of physical education opportunities for students at Harvard.
