Scope and Content

This subseries documents numerous aspects of Harvard University's academic and administrative communities and provides a record of the University's efforts to capture and record the act of conveying knowledge. It consists of documentary and publicity images of faculty, staff, and visitors at work, conferences, celebrations, and University-wide events. In addition to formal and informal portraits, the subseries includes images that were part of the News Office's "Professors in Action" series, which recorded Harvard professors educating students and working within their offices and classrooms across the University.

Materials consist primarily of black and white contact sheets and 35mm, 2x2 in. and 4x5 in. negatives. Also includes a small number of enlargements and press releases. In most cases, contact sheets have corresponding negatives.
