Elista and Iki-Burul, 1990

Side 1: Recordings were made in Elista city in 1990. Matsak Tonkheyevich Bimbaev (Torgut, born in 1900 in the settlement of Moghata of Dolbanskiy aimak of Yandyk-Mochazniy ulus) tells about celebration of Tsagan Sar, Zul, Ghal-tääkh, and about Bö. Sanghadzi-Gorya Mandzievich Mandziev (khoshut, Bag Kerä Shangut, born in 1899 in the settlement of Ushakovka of Astrakhan province), recollects the wedding, old games ('Biltsg bultulg' and other), fishing, and other stories about the old life.
Side 2: Recordings were made in 1990 in the settlement of Iki-Burul by Beevä Boghaevna Opaeva (Bag Dörvd, b. in 1918) singing ut dun ("Ker khaltr mörn" - "Brown swift horse" and others). Matsk Tonkheyevich Bimbaev (Torgut, b. in 1900) recollects about Bö (shaman). Recordings of tuulis (fairy tale) were made in Elista city in 1990 by Ochir Erdnievich Ubushiev (b. 1910, Torgut, from Dolbanskiy aimak).

The Eda Kuhn Loeb Music Library is the primary repository of musical materials at Harvard. The Music Library’s collecting mission is to serve music teaching and research programs in the Music Department and throughout the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
