James H. Hausman (1918-1996) served with the U.S. armed forces in Korea from 1946-1981. Born in New Jersey, he was a veteran of World War II. He went to Korea in 1946, but returned to the United States to serve at the U.S. Dept. of Defense in 1950 at the outbreak of the Korean War as an expert on Korean military affairs. He returned to Korea in 1956 and served as the Special Advisor to the Commander-in-Chief to the United Nations Command for the next 25 years.
