1 linear feet (2 boxes)Contains catalogs for shops selling products relating to drug use, growth, and access, mainly from the early 1970s. Companies include Krupp's Fantasy Express, D.B. Associates, Sundance Incense and Trading Co., Interplanetary, Saladin Productions, Flash, Ecology 2.00, Gemini Rising Posters, Synergisms, The Whole Hub of the Universe, Berney Karp, Weed City, Pure Weed, Inner Sanctum Imports, Morgan Love and Co., The Family Stone, Correct Count, Paraphernalia, Midtown Distributing Company, B. Cuzz Products, House of Ripps, Catalog Merchandising Service of America, and many more. The majority of the catalogs are selling paraphernalia relating to drug usage, primarily marijuana, as well as the development and growth of marijuana. Some catalogs also relate to sexual products, including oils. Further catalogs sell clothing, decor, signage, posters, and other ephemera related to drug culture. Further contains a single over-sized item from a catalog with sex-related, Disney cartoon-inspired content.
Biographical / Historical
The Ludlow-Santo Domingo Library is the world’s largest private collection of material on altered states of mind. The collection was formed by Julio Mario Santo Domingo Jr. (1957–2009), an investment advisor who resigned his business interests to devote himself to collecting.
