.2 linear feet (1 volume)108 original pen and ink drawings with autograph manuscript limerick text by Edward Lear. Also includes two woodcut proofs. Many have autograph manuscript additions by Philip Hofer. The images are mounted on leaves (20 x 28 cm.), on the rectos only; with a title page and part-title pages. Title on manuscript title leaf bound at front of volume is: Eighty-two Original Drawings for "More Nonsense" : and Part of a "Nonsense" Alphabet : also Ten unpublished "Nonsense" Drawings.
Volume (21 x 30 cm.) bound in red morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe. In a tray case (22 cm.).
Biographical / Historical
Edward Lear (1812-1888) is remembered primarily for his nonsense rhymes and limericks, but in his own lifetime he sought recognition as a landscape painter.

- II. Ten unpublished "Nonsense" drawings
- III. Part of a "Nonsense" alphabet.
