M. Howells; and engagement calendars and address book, 1892-1957, of Mildred Howells, Howells' daughter. Also includes papers relating to the Howells Edition prepared at Indiana University.
Biographical / Historical
William Dean Howells was a novelist and man of letters. He served as United States consul in Venice (1861-1865), as editor of The Atlantic Monthly (1871-1881), and as editor of Cosmopolitan (1881-1892).
