Jean Schermerhorn (Roosevelt) Roosevelt was the daughter of John Ellis Roosevelt and Nannie Mitchell (Vance) Roosevelt and granddaughter of Robert Barnwell Roosevelt, uncle of American president Theodore Roosevelt. She married Philip James Roosevelt, son of William Emlen Roosevelt and Christine Griffin (Kean) Roosevelt and grandson of James Alfred Roosevelt, also uncle of Theodore Roosevelt.
