The bulk of this collection is not housed at the Houghton Library, but is shelved offsite at the Harvard Depository. Retrieval requires advance notice. Readers should check with Houghton Public Services staff to determine what material is offsite and for retrieval policies and times.

Most descriptive information comes from notes found on the original photograph envelopes, most of the notes being in Lady Eccles's hand. No effort has been made to verify the accuracy of these notations. Some photographs may have been removed from their envelopes before their arrival at Houghton Library. Some photographs also appear in the Four Oaks Farm guest books.
