17 linear feet (17 boxes)The Harvard Film Archive Promotional Materials Collection consists of pressbooks, one-sheet promotional documents, film stills, posters, lobby cards, slides, and electronic materials promoting 603 different films produced between 1915 and 2007. The promotional materials date from approximately 1925 to 2007; while some materials are designed to promote the initial releases of the films in question, others were created for the promotion of theatrical re-releases, which makes them difficult to date accurately. The promotional materials are in English and are targeted for the use of theaters in the United States, although a large number of international films are represented.

Materials are arranged alphabetically, first by director's name and then by film title.
Acquisition Information
Collection accumulated over the course of several years by the staff of the Harvard Film Archive.

The Harvard Film Archive is one of the largest university-based motion picture collections in the United States, with a collection of 40,000 audio visual items, a growing number of manuscript collections, and nearly one million still photographs, posters, and other promotional materials from around the world and from almost every period in film history. The HFA's collection of paper materials, including the documentation of individual filmmakers as well as promotional materials such as posters, film stills, and ephemera are accessible to Harvard affiliates as well as to outside researchers.
