Mounted Models

Scope and Contents

The glass flowers were photographed multiple times over many years. Different photographic proceses were used including black and white photographs, color photographs, cyanotypes, and slides. The photographs are arranged and were digitized by photographic process.

Within each photographic process, for example black and white photographs, each model is represented once in the finding aid. However, there may be multiple black and white images of a single model. All images are viewable by clicking the thumbnail in the finding aid leading to the Harvard Library viewer.

Language of Materials

Collection materials are in English and German.

Conditions Governing Access

The collection is open for research by appointment with the following exceptions: Harvard University records are restricted for 50 years; Harvard personnel and student records are closed for 80 years. Some restrictions have been noted in the finding aid. Other records may need to be evaluated by archives staff in advance.

Researchers must register and provide one form of valid photo identification. Please contact botref@oeb.harvard.edu for additional information.

The Harvard University Herbaria houses five research libraries that are managed collectively as the Botany Libraries.The Economic Botany Library specializes in materials related to economic botany or the commercial exploitation of plants. The Archives of the Economic Botany Herbarium of Oakes Ames houses unique resources including personal papers, institutional records, field notes and plant lists, expedition records, photographs, original artwork, and objects from faculty, curators, staff, and affiliates of the Economic Botany Herbarium.
