Scope and Contents

Typescript letter with handwritten signature from John Thacher to Robert and Mildred Bliss encloses a copy of the estimate which G. Morris Steinbraker submitted regarding the completion of the North Vista. He has sent this to Robert Patterson requesting his comments or approval at his earliest convenience. After Thacher hears from Patterson wither he or Miss Carpenter will communicate with the Blisses again. Thacher tells the Blisses that at the moment the only portion of the North Vista that Dumbarton Oaks Can proceed with is the rebuilding of the large piers and the curved walls with the consoles attached to them as there is only a balance of $3200 after the first of July in the special garden fund. He explains that the balance is so low as charges have been made against that account during the past winter for the North Vista. He encloses a statement enumerating the various charges. Also with this correpondence is a copy of an estimate from G. Morris Steinbraker & Son Building Construction, 3207 Grace Street, N.W., Washington 7, D.C. (Georgetown) to furnish and install the new Terrior Seat, etc. and work done on the Finalities.
