Scope and Contents

Copy of typescript letter from John Thacher to Beatrix Farrand telling her he just returned from a 10 absence to Cambridge [Massachusetts] and New York. He instructs her to use up the balance in the Agent's account which was held in reserve from last year's budget. Beatrix would still be due $5.00 which he will send on to her. Robert Patterson sent a bill for his service from July 1-December 31, 1946 and Thacher will pay it out of the "Consulting Landscape Gardeners" budget which covers services for her and Patterson. That will leave a balance of $1586.49 to cover their services through June 30, 1947. He reports being delighted about the bulb savings, and will send her a check for $250.00 on the first of March if that is convenient for her. Robert Patterson was at Dumbarton Oaks the week before last for several days, and he will write her in detail about his visit. John Thacher has been given five months leave from Dumbarton Oaks beginning May first, and he hopes to go to Europe. He will likely not see Beatrix Farrand until autumn.
