Scope and Contents

Typescript letter with handwritten signature from Beatrix Farrand to John Thacher, Lieutenant Commander, U.S.N. requests feedback on the Landscape Architecture manuscript. She asks him to wire Bradford Williams, editor giving his approval and ask Robert and Mildred Bliss to get their release. Seven photographs were submitted to Williams to be published in the journal. The list of photographs are an air view from the southeast showing the entrance road, east lawn and terraces by Fairchild Air Surveys; Front door, south side of house; Box Terrace; Rost Garden and steps leading to Box Terrace; Herbaceous Borders and Irish Yew at top of the hill; East end of the loggia and Swimming Pool; and North front of house and North Vista terraces. While at Dumbarton Oaks, she plans to lunch and rest under James Bryce's roof.
