Scope and Contents
Typescript letter with handwritten signature from Elwin J. Sasser to Mildred Bliss expresses his appreciation for having the opportunity to broaden his knowledge of landscape architecture and its influence in our daily lives through the award of the Garden Scholarship. He is to be employed by the National Park Service. He reports that the examples of landscape architecture design that he has observed and the phases of garden work in which he participated at Dumbarton Oaks will greatly influence the professional work he hopes to do in the public service. Response is a copy of a typescript letter from Mr. Robert Woods Bliss's secretary [Ellis Russell?] on behalf of Mrs. Robert Woods Bliss to Elwin J. Sasser says that his kind letter to Mrs. Bliss has been received in her absence while she and Robert Woods Bliss are in Europe. The secretary reports that Mrs. Bliss's secretary is also absent. The secretary thanks Sasser on behalf of Mildred Bliss for his communication until she receives it on her return in the fall. Her mail is not being forwarded due to the Blisses frequent change of address.
