Scope and Contents

Copy of letter from Beatrix Farrand to Jan de Graaff, Oregon Bulb Farms tells him that it is difficult to get information from people at Arnold Arboretum, Dumbarton Oaks, and the University of Chicago. The Arnold Arboretum is giving Farrand funds to buy about 2000 Narcissi bulbs from him. She might pay for an additional 1000 as they would be planted in a big "drift" near the Administration Building. She asks if he would permit her to order bulbs for these public institutions. She tells him that the recalcitrant Dumbarton Oaks gardener [James Bryce] acknowledged that de Graaff's forcing bulbs were better than the local retail stores. She reports the Leedsi daffodils have been magnificient despite all the rain, and she has received many comments on them.
