Letter from Beatrix Farrand, 1650 Orlando Road, San Marino, California to Miss Anne Sweeney, 314 East 163rd Street, New York, N.Y., January 27, 1937

Scope and Contents

Handsigned typescript letter on Beatrix Farrand letterhead with the location crossed through and typed on letter. Beatrix Farrand tells Anne Sweeney that she is sending the corrected cards for the Catalogue House list and asks her to make a carbon copy of the final list. The cards first sent are trees and shrubs then perennials, wild and cultivated. She continues to say it seems quite desirable to include the accent for pronunciation, approximate native habitat and later include the plant family, quality of the soil it needs, height and spread on the card. She suggests making a glossary sheet to include notes on accents, Latin synonyms, common name and so on. It would be wise to mention source of information and page number on the card. Signature on letter is likely from Miss Mary Fulkerson, a typist to Beatrix Farrand.
