Scope and Contents

Contains photographs, photo albums, and 16mm motion picture films. The photographs and films were produced during the fieldwork campaigns at the Red Sea Monasteries in Egypt and at Hagia Sophia, Kariye Camii, and other sites in Istanbul, Turkey from the 1930s to the 1950s. They document the fieldworkers’ conservation and restoration techniques and highlight various types of Byzantine art and architecture.
