Series 00300: I. Professional Correspondence, 1929-1950., 1929-1950.

Scope and Contents

Consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence and a limited amount of memoranda, reports, drafts, and clippings. Topics in the correspondence include discussions of Lab operations, as well as research at the Lab, including research into cold weather, food and nutrition, shoes and clothing, fitness, and high altitude. Included is correspondence related to: research performed under contract with the United States Army; Lab staffing and personnel; specifications for and the purchase and implementation of laboratory equipment; and the wartime activities of David Bruce Dill. The series also contains correspondence from members of the International High Altitude Expedition and correspondence regarding the closing of the Lab in 1947. Correspondents in the series include David Bruce Dill, Lawrence Joseph Henderson, Ancel Keys, and William H. Forbes, as well as government, military, and corporate entities.
