Consists of a handwritten letter from Henry Dean "Hank" Moorman, Jr. to his parents describing his experience at the Boston City Hospital on the morning following the Cocoanut Grove nightclub fire in November of 1942. Moorman was a Harvard Medical School student at the time of the fire and was likely serving as an intern at the Boston City Hospital.

Biographical / Historical

Henry Dean "Hank" Moorman, Jr. (1918-1967), M.D., 1943, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, was a physician. Moorman attended Harvard Medical School and trained at Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center), Boston, Massachusetts. He then served as a surgeon in the U.S. Navy and director of a leper colony (isolated place for people with leprosy, also known as Hansen’s Disease) in the Northern Mariana Islands. Moorman joined the Pasadena Tumor Institute in 1955 and practiced medicine in Pasadena, California.
