Ground was broken for the Countway Library on June 1, 1963. More information: President's report, 1962-1963. On May 12, 1964, the cornerstone was laid during a ceremony attended by fellows of Harvard College, members of the Board of Overseers, the Overseers' Committee to Visit the Medical School and the School of Dental Medicine, Harvard Medical School staff and friends, and representatives of affiliated teaching hospitals.
