Series VIII. Memorabilia, 1983-2007., 1983-2007.

Scope and Contents

Principally consists of clippings, correspondence, and records from events attended by Brazelton, as well as photographs and a limited amount of ephemera. The clippings in this series are primarily from newspapers and magazines, including foreign language publications, but also include newsletters and press releases. They consist of articles written about Brazelton, as well as articles and columns written by Brazelton. Also included are reviews of books written by Brazelton and television shows and videos featuring Brazelton. The correspondence in this series includes: thank-you letters written to Brazelton for his appearances, speeches, lectures, and participation in conferences; letters of congratulations; letters from United States Senators and Representatives, including Representative Patricia Schroeder, regarding issues in child development and related legislation; letters from First Ladies Barbara Bush and Hillary Clinton; Brazelton’s personal correspondence with Benjamin Spock; correspondence with publishers, including Merloyd Lawrence and Addison-Wesley, regarding the publication, release, and sale of books written by Brazelton; a limited number of book drafts; letters from parents with questions regarding child development issues, as well as comments about articles and columns written by Brazelton; and correspondence regarding training for the Neonatal Behavioral Assessment Scale. The collection also contains a letter from Fred Rogers, host of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” to Brazelton, as well as a limited amount of personal correspondence from Brazelton’s family members. A portion of the correspondence in this series contains Brazelton’s hand-written draft responses. Events records in this series consist of programs, itineraries, evaluations, flyers, and posters from events in which Brazelton either participated or attended, including the Brazelton National Seminar Series. The ephemera in this series includes honorary diplomas, certificates, citations, and drawings. A large number of photographs are also contained within this series, the bulk of which are related to events or were enclosed with correspondence.
