In 1883 the Medical School moved from its location on North Grove Street to a new building at 688 Boylston Street. This larger structure included separate laboratories for physiology, medical chemistry, general chemistry, special chemical analysis, pathological anatomy and histology, and experimental pathology. These labs were used both for instructional purposes and to allow faculty to undertake original research. More information: President's report, 1883-1884. By 1896 many improvements had been made, including wiring the building for electric lighting. More information: President's report, 1895-1896.
