Bernard Ross photographs

Scope and Contents note

3 photograph boxes (92 rolls) of color photographic prints, mostly 4x6, taken at the Arnold Arboretum 1998-2005 by Bernard Ross, a man from Dorchester who frequently walked his dog at the Arboretum. Also included in the donation are some indices to the photographs by roll number and subject, and one newspaper article featuring Ross's photographs in a Buddhist publication "Merit Times," dated October 4, 2003. The collection is comprised of 92 rolls, mostly of the grounds and specific trees and shrubs, always dated and usually annotated with species names. The collection is particulary strong in documentation of conifers (of all types), rhododendron, and azaleas. Other subjects of the photographs include Ross's Shih Tzu "Mandy," Mandy's interactions with other dogs at the Arboretum, birds and butterflies, and several photographs of Boston's "Big Dig" construction.
