Biographical / Historical

Henry Monfort Cary (1878-1936) graduated from St. Francis Xavier College and was originally ordained as a Catholic priest in the missionary order of Regulars. Following his break with Catholicism, he was ordained in the Universalist tradition and served parishes in Auburn and Little Falls, New York. He served as the head of the Universalist mission to Japan, and was awarded a doctor of divinity degree from Lombard in 1926.
