This collection contains material pertaining to Albert D'Orlando's ministry, particularly his work in the First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans. Rev. D'Orlando was instrumental in integrating this church during the 1960s and his papers reflect this struggle and his participation in the civil rights movement (for a good overview, see folders entitled Annual Report, May 18, 1969, and Biographical Information, January 18 1976). The first five boxes contain sermons, arranged chronologically. The sermons deal with the civil rights movement, the Vietnam war, abortion, the death penalty, holiday themes, and historical figures. Box 6 contains addresses, annual reports, biographical information, correspondence, service material, and a few student papers, articles, and news releases. Addresses include radio addresses, primarily for station WTPS, and other public addresses dated November 1947-October 1990. Service material contains background material for sermons and Sunday services on various dates from 1953 to 1994.
