Various types of records, including account books, ledgers, and letter books, of merchants engaged in domestic wholesale marketing: Waterson, Pray and Company of Boston, 1832-1833; N.F. Cunningham and Company of Boston, 1841-1851; Ghriskey and Caldwell of Philadelphia, 1849-1859.
Also records of: J. and D. Miller of Portland, Me., 1857-1864; an unidentified merchant of Richmond, Va., 1866-1867; and Joseph Pope of Spencer, Mass., 1867-1871.

Biographical / Historical
This artificial collection of records pertaining to wholesale merchants was created as part of a grant project to make collections available via the Harvard Library catalog, HOLLIS. In an effort to make these individual collections more discoverable this guide was created with descriptions taken from Manuscripts in Baker Library (4th ed., 1978) and local finding aids housed in the Special Collections reading room.
