Included are stockholders' records, minutes, accounting records, policy records, schedules of risks and notes, proposal book, and incoming letters. Also includes papers (mainly letters and bills) of Moses L. Hale continuing until 1867.
Biographical / Historical
The Commercial Insurance Company was a fire and marine insurance firm established in Boston, Massachusetts in 1823. Several of the directors of the newly founded Massachusetts Hospital Life Insurance Company had interests in the company. It was placed in liquidation in 1826. Moses L. Hale (1799-1874) was secretary of the Commercial Insurance Company and of the Massachusetts Hospital Life Insurance Company.
