University Associates Trust records

Scope and Contents

Ledgers, 1900-1957; cash books, 1938-1958; minutes of meetings, 1900-1937; reports; stockholders' records; and other papers of a real estate trust, established in 1900, disbanded, 1958, which held property in Boston and Cambridge. Includes letters, 1944-1950, of Augustus P. Loring, Jr., trustee.

Although the trust was entirely managed by men, many of the stockholders were socially prominent women in the Boston area. The collection contains lists of stockholders, cancelled stock certificates, and investment accounts. The collection also includes records of wills and trusts, which in some cases limited women's control of their assets.
