The William C. Johnson business papers contain incoming letters and letter books, primarily related to Johnson's business of insuring lumber companies. Letters also contain references to Ohio politics, school affairs in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, and issues related to Mutual Insurance companies. In a letter dated February 9, 1904, Johnson expresses his involvement in the insurance business is the greatests regret of his life.

Biographical / Historical

William C. Johson was a insurance executive and owner of a wholesale lumber business in Massachusetts. He owned W.C. Johnson Lumber Company in Leominster, Massachusetts and served as President of the Lumber Mutual Fire Insurance Company, based in Boston. He maintained an office for insurance transactions in Boston and was also the attorney for several lumber companies including M.G. Shaw Lumber Company.
