3 linear feet (24 volumes, 3 boxes)The business records of the Loring family contain letter books, accounts of investments, and records of the Loring Brothers Company of Boston and Valparaiso. Included are minute books and general accounts of the Torch Lake Mining Company of Houghton, Michigan, 1864-1924; East Boston Wharf, 1833-1866; and the National Dock and Warehouse Company of Boston, 1865-1913 Also included are personal estate papers for Loring family members and records of investments.
Biographical Note:
The Loring family business records contain letter books, business records, and accounts of the Loring family business interests pertaining to Elisha T. Loring, Charles Loring, Thacher Loring, and Lindsley Loring. The family business had a main office located in Boston, Mass. with a satellite office in Valparaiso, Chile. Loring family members also invested in mining companies, wharves, and dock and warehouse companies.
