Stanley F. Teele (1906-1967) was the fourth Dean of Harvard Business School (1955-1962). His tenure as Dean was marked by the celebration of HBS's 50th anniversary in 1958, and it was an era of expansion and reorganization at the School. The Doctoral Program was reorganized and enlarged. The Executive Education Middle Management Program was reorganized into the Program for Management Development. HBS faculty assisted in establishing and staffing new business schools around the world, including IMEDE in Lausanne, Switzerland (now IMD Business School), INSEAD in Paris, and business programs at the University of Istanbul and Keio University. Teele was also a strong supporter of the Harvard-Radcliffe Program in Business Administration and the Trade Union Program. A full review and revision of the MBA curriculum and the organization of the MBA faculty, were ongoing at the time of Teele's resignation due to ill health in 1962.
Stanley F. Teele earned a BA from Amherst College in 1928 and an MBA (1930) and DCS (1933) from HBS. He held many jobs at HBS between 1931 and 1962, including Research Assistant at the Bureau of Business Research, 1931-1933; Assistant Professor of Marketing, 1935-1938; Associate Professor, 1938-1944; Professor of Business Administration, 1944-1946; Associate Dean, 1946-1955; and Dean, 1955-1962. He was also Deputy Director of the Procurement Policy Division of the War Production Board from 1941 to 1943 and served on the Board of Directors of many corporations, including S.H. Kress & Co.
