Histories of commercials schooners
Scope and Contents
One box of records of the histories of commercial schooners kept and collected by Arthur H. Hayden, 1928-1938. The histories, which are arranged alphabetically by ship name contain information on a ship's departure and arrival at ports, activities while engaged in a voyage including fishing, condition information such as having sprung a leak or reason for being towed into port, size of the ship, where and when built, and the captain's name. Most of the entries have a final statement of the ship's existence including if it had been sunk, converted to a barge, foundered, or sold. Some of the reports, which list the ship as missing include the number of seamen lost.
