Series I: Boston and Worcester Railroad Corporation records, 1831-1882
Scope and Contents
The Boston and Worcester Railroad Corporation was incorporated in Massachusetts in 1831. It merged with the Western Rail-Road Corporation in 1867 to form the Boston and Albany Railroad Co. There are 121 volumes and several boxes of unbound materials dating from 1831 to 1882. The bulk of the records date from 1831 until the 1867 merger. Materials include directors' records and meeting minutes, 1831-1867; stockholder records, 1833-1867; financial records such as journals and cash books, 1842-1867; survey records, 1840-1842; and correspondence. Volume A1 includes the Acts of Incorporation and list of initial subscribers.
