Series II. Teaching and Research (not HBS), 1946-2008

Scope and Contents

The series contains the teaching records and academic research of Andrew Brimmer excluding his time at Harvard Business School. The material in this series covers Brimmer’s tenure as Assistant Professor of Economics and Finance at Michigan State University (MSU); Assistant Professor of Finance at Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at University of Pennsylvania; and later in his career as the Wilmer D. Barrett Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

This series also includes material related to Andrew Brimmer's Fulbright Scholarship and includes notes, reviews, newspaper clippings, papers, and other material collected while researching entrepreneurship and industrial change in India.

Conditions Governing Access

Digital use copies of born-digital content can be accessed only onsite in the de Gaspé Beaubien Reading Room on a designated Special Collections computer. Researchers are not permitted to copy or download any digital files. To request access please contact specialcollectionsref@hbs.edu prior to visiting the library.

Baker Library Special Collections and Archives (BLSCA) staff extracted digital materials from storage media when possible. Staff surveyed files and screened them for privacy and confidentiality concerns. Following internal policy, staff did not retain deleted files, operating system and program files, or unallocated space data. The original storage media have been deaccessioned.

Restricted material has been identified and separated. Note that box and folder lists of restricted material have been redacted.

Audiovisual materials have been digitized. Due to fragility of these materials and the difficulty with play back, researchers must work with digital copies rather than with the original recordings. Digital use copies for some items that were digitized can be accessed only onsite in the de Gaspé Beaubien Reading Room or are only available via streaming access to the Harvard community.
