Scope and Contents
New York Bank & Trust Company records include Cairo City & Canal Company account, bill books, bills receivable and payable. Vol. 1 is a record of agreement between the Illinois Exporting Company and the Cairo City and Canal Company whereby the first company agreed to lend funds to the second, secured by deed of trust on lands purchased by the Cairo City and Canal Co., 1837. Also included are resolutions passed by the President and Directors of the Cairo City Canal Co. Printed bonds, 1838-1858 and a record of cancelled bonds. Vols. 2-5 are bill books for January, August, September and December 1837. vol. 6 includes bills receivable and payable.
