Subseries IA. Glass negatives, 1865-1890

Scope and Contents

This series contains 52 glass negatives and 2 film stills of railroad locomotives collected by Harry Chick. Most of the glass negatives were still in their original envelopes that were annotated with dark room developing instructions by Chick. Many of the locomotives rode on New England railroads including the Boston & Maine, Boston & Lowell, Fitchburg, New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The glass plate negatives are located in boxes 26 and 27. The numbering system was created to give each item a unique identifier. The first number in the sequence, 27, is the collection number, followed by photograph type, in this instance 1 for glass negatives, and then consecutive numbers after that.
