Includes a 1778 insurance policy taken out by merchant Richard Derby, Jr. (1712-1783), of Salem, Massachusetts, on a voyage of the schooner Neptune from South Key, North Carolina, to Bilbao, Spain, underwritten in Boston by Joseph Barrell (1739-1804), Tuthill Hubbart, and Samuel Allyne Otis (1740-1814; Harvard AB 1759), among others.
