This collection consists of material collected and created by Andrew L. Kaufman as part of the research for his book, Cardozo (1998).

The papers of E. (Edwin) Merrick Dodd consist of materials related to Dodd’s professional activities as professor of law, author, and legal scholar.

Edward Holmes was Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr's nephew. The Edward J. Holmes collection of materials relating to Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. and his family consists of correspondence, estate matters, and various family documents.

Papers relating to Thayer's student and teaching career at Harvard Law School, work as a practicing attorney, and involvement in professional affairs. Includes notes, financial records (1884-1891), and examination questions from his student days at Harvard College and Harvard Law School, and studies for the Massachusetts Bar Association and Carnegie Foundation on the quality and content of bar examinations and methods of teaching in American law schools.

Papers contain miscellaneous correspondence, moot court papers, miscellaneous teaching notes on Roman law and Thayer's research in Roman and early English law. Holograph research notes also available in photocopy and microfilm. Papers also include 2 drawers of 4"x 6" index cards.

Content of collection concerns Maguire's career as lawyer and professor of law at Harvard Law School, together with personal, biographical and genealogical material, papers relating to rules of evidence in Israel and New Jersey, and material relating to his student days and other associations with Colorado College, Colorado Springs.

Also two typed, bound journals recounting camping trips in West Virginia and to Civil War battlefields (1898, 1912-1917).

Collection consists of papers relating to Powell's career as law teacher and legal scholar, consultant and mediator in legal cases involving tax, insurance, and railroad matters, and as president of the American Political Science Association. It also includes mss. of his humorous prose and verse.

Records of a commission chaired by former U.S. Attorney General George Wickersham, also known as the National Commission on Law Observance and Enforcement. Bulk of the material relates to prohibiton and narcotic law enforcement and the cost of administration of criminal justice.

The papers of William Henry Hastie relate to his professional career, mainly starting with 1937, until his death in 1976; to his interest in and championship of civic causes; and to his efforts in behalf of anti-discrimination. There are small groups of drafts of speeches and of biographical material, the latter relating to his various appointments, and to academic and civic honors.
