(George Washington Heard, junior; changed his name by legislative act in 1861 to George Farley Heard; educated at Harvard University and in Geneva; went to Beijing in 1859; manager in the family firm, Augustine Heard & Company until 1875; director of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation; died aboard SS Anadyr in the Red Sea, February 8, 1875
