Biography
Augustine Heard was a sea-captain and merchant, of Ipswich and Boston, Mass., and Canton, China. He was a partner in the firm Samuel Russell and Co. until 1840 when he founded Augustine Heard & Company with his four nephews. He was also the owner of the Ipswich Manufacturing Co.
