United States North Pacific Exploring Expedition (1853-1856)

Scope and Contents: The collection consists of 64 black and white drawings created by Isaac Sprague depicting new species of Japanese plants. Asa Gray hired Sprague to create the drawings with the intention of publishing them; however, they were never published.
