Biography

The Mercantile Agency was founded in New York City in 1841 by Lewis Tappan. The company changed it's name to R.G. Dun & Company after 1859 when owned and operated by Robert Graham Dun; merged in 1933 with the Bradstreet Company to form the most widely known mercantile agency, Dun & Bradstreet, Inc.
