Overview: Records of a cotton commission firm of New Orleans, mainly correspondence with treasurers of New England cotton mills.
Overview: Cotton manufacturing firm of Lowell, Mass., established in 1831 by proprietors of the other Lowell mills in connection with the Boston merchants Abbott and Amos Lawrence. The collection includes general account books, production records, sales records, payrolls, and letters.
Scope and Contents: Consists of handwritten charts of financial data abstracted from the records of five cotton textile manufacturers held at Baker Library. The five firms were Nashua Manufacturing Company (1827-1914), Boston Manufacturing Company (1825-1865), Lawrence Manufacturing Company (1833-1891), Hamilton Manufacturing Company (1826-1886), Dwight Manufacturing Company (1865-1914), and Lyman Mills (1886-1914).
